Are we living in a society that places an excessive emphasis on the physical aspect?
Do web sites such as My Space help people to become egocentric and falling in love with their physycal image? Is this going to help to make the world better?

The last generation has been raised with the idea that "you are special". Reality is you're not. With 300 million people in US alone undoubtedly there are some if not many like you. Many factors contribute to this perceived uniqueness. My Space type stuff, TV blabbing about "it's all about you" indulgent parents and schools, corporate ads expressing they're trying to serve your supposed unique style (the height of hypocrisy). That's just a small sampling of the modern phychosis of youthful specialness......

it isn't going to make the world a better place, but at the same time, as a teenager i feel it is wrong to say that myspace helps kids to become obsessed with themselves. many people who don the stereotypical myspace page are people who want attention for their insecurities. they sit and take a zillion pictures of themselves, put them into photoshop, and then stick them on the web so that creepy middle aged (no offense if you are one) men can hit on them. this isn't going to make the world better at all, but at the same time, the world is constantly changing. i feel that in many ways today's world is a much better place (especially for women) than in the (early) 20th century. now if women are degrading themselves, it's because they are succumbing to the images of the media, women have much more freedom these days, and it's all about what you do with that freedom. i don't think that myspace is going to ruin the world for the same reasons as you do. i feel that if myspace is going to harm the world it isn't because people will become more egocentric, it is because they will value themselves less.

i hope a 16 year old girl's opinion will help you with this

The better looking you are the better chances you have at success. For example your likely to get a job over an unattractive person and a better looking mate etc. There has been scientific studies to prove it.
