What is the sum of 50 +49 +48 +47.... all the way to 1?
And the sum of 40 + (all of it's preceding numbers)?

Its also the same as 50! on your calculator.

40+39+38+37+36+35+34+33+32+31+30+29+28+27+26+25+24+23+22+21+20+19+18+17+16+15+14+13+12+11+10+9+8+7+6+5+4+3+2+1 = 820
If you want to write it down then I suggest listing every number in descending order and then adding two of the numbers beside each one in the next row. And then add those numbers side-by-side in each row. Be sure to leave space between each number so you don't get confused. It will look like a sideways triangle when finished. It is easiest to add two numbers at a time instead of all 40 at once. Have fun!
