No, as I find that a rather weak technique only found among anthropologists. I am an ethologist, so I do not use " informants ". I am a scientifically trained observer. Frankly, I always thought using informants was an intellectually weak social science approach.

Informants in some levels of Police work is basic, but, from real experience, they are not totally accurate or reliable. Most have a term for them in lower castes of society; rat, snitch, stool-pigeon; but whatever you decide, it's risky at best !!
