Inside each pack of contraceptive pills is a data sheet. Instructions are on it. Yes it is 21 days on the pill then 7 days off then 21 on.....etc. While on the pill your periods will probably be shorter and lighter that usual. The length of the bleed does not change the instruction. Also, in case you are wondering you are contraceptively fully protected during the 7 pill free days.

Okay sweetheart the instructions will be on the pack, and you can always go back and see your nurse/doctor.
I have been on the pill for 8 years, basically, you take the first pill on the FIRST day of your period.
When you finish the last pill, that is when you have the 7 day break. During that time you will have your period.
You then need to start your next pack 7 days after your period.
For example my last pill was Monday. I then begin my next pack the following Monday.
If your still not sure make that appointment.

I take it you are just starting to take the pill. if so you take the first pill on the first day of your period and continue to take one pill every day until you have finished the pack, you then have a seven day break during this you will have a period after seven days start a new pack of pills regardless of whether you are still on or not but normally you will not be. You do not need to use other protection whilst on your seven day break it protects you throughout this. Hope this makes sense.

Take the pills on the regular schedule. 21 days on and 7 days off. (some prescriptions include a placebo for the 7 days off so that you keep up a schedule of taking pills daily and do not forget)

after the seven days of inactive pills, automatically start the next pack of pills the next day. You will not get your period right away after you take the inactive pills, so don't panic. usually around day three or four, you will get your period. you do not need to use birth control during the inactive pills

start them the day your period starts. take them for 21 days, then stop for 7. take them for 21 days, then stop for 7. take them for 21 days, the stop for 7 etc etc etc
theres nothing too complicated, and not that many side effects either, which is great. but please, if you have any questions, chat to your GP coz they will be more than willing to help you out.
hope this helps a lil bit!

You are understanding it correctly. Most women have a 29 day cycle so it all adds up just right. Good Luck and God Bless
