warning: spoiler. your question is based on opinion. he has stopped going to church (im not sure if that's act one), because he thinks it's being taken in the wrong direction by that priest, whatever his name is. he has also had an affair with abigail (again, i don't really know if that's act one), but in the end, he proves himself to be righteous by refusing to admit to a lie.
