Well, since I've never heard of anyone being forced on an extreme climb, I most certainly see no reason to ban what an adult, hopefully an adult capable of making an educated decision, chooses to do with their life. I sincerely doubt that anyone other than expert climbers with many years of experience ever get so far as to begin the climb of Mt. Everest and some of these more challenging slopes. If there is a possibility that some less educated and less experienced climbers are actually undertaking this endeavor, perhaps there should be some type of measurement or test of knowledge to determine someone's fitness for taking such risk. Any experienced climber knows that they take a risk at any time - but there are many other choices in life that involve risk - driving anywhere in a car or riding a motorcycle among them.

Why? Adult people should be allowed to act like adults, and not be treated like a 1 year old in a nursery by those who "know best". I have to say I am getting quite tired of "risk averse" do-gooders (not having a go at you by the way) trying to tell me how to live every aspect of my life.

In your particular example, however, climbing should be controlled because of it's effect on the environment of the mountain.

I have climbed Everest in 1981...BELIEVE me it's very expensive, it cost me $63K then. It is NO where worth it, I went through pain like I never knew existed and I'm have damage
