Hi - I am a lawyer. I started out as a legal secretary years ago. A fast typist is worth her weight in gold to a law firm. Unfortunately lawyers are not very easy to deal with and oftentimes do not know how to manage people very well. The pay is about $25K to $40K per year depending on the area of the US you reside. It also depends on the type of law practiced and the duties you handle. Typing 100 wpm will get you the most money. Medical typists make excellent money too. Many can work from home. Medical transcription is a much-needed area of expertise and requires lots of training. Go with the medical work. It pays better. Its more stable and you might even end up marrying a doctor!! Business is great if its a high-paying industry like a high tech or engineering firm. The more computer programs you know - the more money you can make!!

Legal Secretary is the best paid, highest job security position in the field.

Attorneys will always need Legals to maintain their Case files and Attorneys are not subject to HMO's, outsourcing to China, or being bought by a foriegn company.

How evry Legal Secretaries have to be Perfectionists in their work and have a tendency to be dedicated. They make good money, should receive good bonuses and can grow to $ 100K
