just take it to your bank , some grocery stores will cash it aswell

Lots of luck. US banks don't seem to have any idea what a money order is, even one made out in US dollars, but will hold them for two weeks before they 'clear'. It's totally frustrating. If you take one in to a Canadian bank, they will cash it then and there, which is how a money order is designed to work. If you get a Canadian postal money order, they will cash it at the post office.

You can cash it at your local bank if you have an account, or any check cashing place.
