I think everyone should take a stand and cancel their account with Barclays... this kind of thing will continue to happen unless we make a stand!
No offence to Indian people... but english is their second language and they fail to distinguish words/conversation which isn't text book english.....

Its called business. Most of the Major Banks ,Amex even Tescos have their call centres in India.
Its totally unfair to workers in Britain but the Fat Cats who run these Companies will save Millions and of course will now be able to pay themselves Millions in Bonuses
You cannot blame the Indians, but after living in the Diplomatic part of New Delhi for three years I have seen Hunger , Poverty and Death. Did you know there are more Millionaires in New Delhi per square Mile than any other city in the World. If it wasn't India then it would be China or Africa so the fat Cats will get even richer.
It disgusts me completely !

Pretty typical. Lloyds has just moved functions back to the UK - their call centre in India has been an expensive mistake. I have no doubt Barclays will see a loss of business when people can't understand their customer service staff.

It is not fair to the people of this Country. The customer service you get is lousy & besides that you cannot understand them. They all have taken American first names, such as Peter and etc. I would ask them what Country are you from, they use to say but refuse to do so now, since there has been so many complains. I don't won't my personal information on a computer in India or anywhere else other than America, especially credt card #'s.

Another sad day for Britain. Barclays made a huge profit last year and this is simply immoral! Putting pounds before people.
I try my best to avoid doing business with companies that do this but it's getting more difficult by the day.

I personally think it is stupid, Norwich Union amongst other companies have been there, done it, worn the t-shirt and are now returning. The language barrier is colossal and who wants to discuss their financial affairs with someone who doesn't understand the lingo. Barclay card will meet many problems and lose profit if they continue with this action.

Did you mean far or fair? Fair I guess. As I used to say to my kids "fair" has no meaning outside the nursery. Its dynamics that count. In this case market forces. Of course it cheaper. Thats why it's been happening for the last 5 years at least!

No, its not fair - my daughter in law has been sent out there to teach them the job and when she comes back she'll be made redundant. Its also not fair to the Indians who are working out there for them because its seems that alot of the businesses which went there are now coming back by popular demand, leaving yet another set of people redundant!

Well I'm setting up a company selling stuff to the Indians.
When it makes me a millionaires I'll hire all the fired Barclaycard workers, give them pina coladas, and employ them to polish my shoes.

you mean "fair"? well no..
they only doing this because of drops in profits, and this is totally the wrong way of settling it. moving call centres to india will mean poor communication between customers and the call centres (call centres in india are useless) and many people are to lose their jobs, why cant Barclayes see the trend in other companies when they moved their call centres to india, they all moved them back to the uk (well the majority).
prediction: barclays profits will continue falling, customers will be disatisfied and angry, and they will have no option but to bring the call centre back to the UK, or send english speaking employees there
