how do i manually renew the IP address using the command prompt (DOS). Can someone walk me through it?

Start > Run > CMD

ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

Yes! Start | Run and type in cmd
A command (not really DOS--that's command instead of cmd-either will work) window will open. Type in ipconfig /release and press the enter key. It will release your IP lease. Now type ipconfig /renew and press the enter key. There is a space between ipconfig and the /. On the second command you can, instead of typing, press the UP arrow key, backspace to remove the lease and type new. DOSkey is automatically enabled at the cmd prompt, so UP arrow will repeat the last command typed at the prompt.

From the command prompt, type the following:

ipconfig /renew

if I remember right.
