When was mind reading used in mythology?

Well this could be interesting. From what I have read about Greek/Roman mythology (alot) I have never come across a true case of mind reading. The gods and goddesses never claimed to read the minds of the humans and other entities, but instead 'sensed' the intentions and lies the humans told them. Sorry to burst your bubble... try reading into the story of Zeus and Hermes when they tested some of the villagers, stopping at and elderly couples house for the night...
