I was told that I am suppose to go to school for pre-med but what happens after that. I'm lookiing at Emory now and georgia southern for pre-med. I'm stiill iin hiigh school though. but what happens after that. What school wiill have what ii want to do?? How long will iit take?? Would iit b hard to get iinto a school for thiis area?? I mostly want to speciialiize iin pregnacy and deliivery iis that possiible??

Four years in college to get your BA or BS degree - it doesnt matter much what you major in as long as you get very good marks, and especially, top marks int he tough pre-med pre-requisite courses - math, chemistry, organic chemistry, biology...

Then take MCATS - like SATs only much harder -- then apply for Med School - about 35,000 kids will apply and 17 - 18,000 will get in... the ones who got As in those premed courses.

Then four years in Medical School. Not specializing - just all different kinds of medicine.

Then a Residency in ob-gyn. Probably 2 - 3 years or more.

Then you are all set. :)

If this sounds like more than you can do, or want to do, why don't you look into the area of Nurse- Midwives. They can handle lots of normal deliveries under the supervision of a Doctor. Once the Doctor sees that you are good, you will operate with a lot of independence.

You have to become an MD first, and then specialize in OBGYN.
Get with your school counselor.
