Is Simmons still capable of being a key defensive player?

Yes, it's one less non-felon/criminal mind on the team.

He's replaceable, especially in a draft deep at the position. Better to let him go a bit early than overpay and take the cap hit.

Yes, I think he is definitely still cable of being above average. He wasnt a superstar, but he had some very good years, and while he's a bit older now, he still would have been very good for the Bengals. But they couldnt afford him anymore. By the way, I sure wouldnt count on seeing Pollack back next year- if ever. So its definitely going to be a hole for the Bengals come draft day.

we're going to have to see, a lot of it will have to do with the recovery and effectiveness of david pollack...if he is able to return healthy as possible and be a contributor, it will obviously not be as difficult to replace simmons, but if he struggles, they will have trouble...plus, cato june is still on the market and the bengals probably will have interest in him
