My dad is really sick and I have been told to write a letter to the VA hospital to get his benifits revaluated and increased. But I do not know how the letter should sound, what words to use, or how to begin it.

Start by contacting the local VAofice. There are forms to fill out. Go to the office, explain the problem, and ask for help.

Within an hour, you'll find out all you need to know. By mail, it'll take a couple weeks before you see a reply.

Are you close to a VA Hospital?? If so, see the social worker there. Call first and ask who to see, and ask what you need.

Th V.A determines the benefit amount based on the type of disability he has and what his rating is for coverage . My husband was totally disabled do to small cell lung cancer; which is terminal. Total disability placed him at category/level 5 for insurance in terms of prescriptions and treatment. We paid nothing out of pocket!! Did you also apply at Social Security? They can also assist you with benefits from them based on the type of dissability. They will need to have access to all medical history too make an informed decision about his case. My hubby received $1555.00 from SS and $774.00 per month from V.A. until his passing! Hope this helps!

also: You can walk in and ask for an appt at the V.A. and call SS for an appt or even do it online also!
