Well, I have an avulsion fracture in my hip ( my muscle was tearing and when it tore it took a piece of my bone off). The day after my birthday on the 16th i go to the Dr. to see if I have to have surgery. I have always been scared that i am going to die or something will go wrong like i won't be able to walk ever again . Should I be so nervous.

I've recently had an avulsion fracture of the hip. Pretty painful for a few days but the pain went away fairly quickly. An avulsion fracture of the hip really isn't a horrible break, sure it sounds bad, but not everything that sounds bad is bad. All they did for my fracture was tell me to stay off it for about 6 weeks and I could start jogging at about 2 weeks and pick up the pace a bit at about 3. They didn't even mention surgery being a possibility (you couldn't even see the fracture on my original X-ray so there was no way to even judge severity.) So I doubt unless its a special circumstance that you will have to have surgery.

I've had quite a few over the years from a pretty bad accident (more in my future).....

The anticipation is the worst part. Talk to your doctor, he'll be able to explain exactly what he's going to do and what you can expect.

Its not so bad, you're young and will be up and around before you know it.

I'll keep a good thought, get well soon.

Surgery is somewhat painful. And there are always risks involved. However, you cross the streets knowing you could get run over. Ask your doctor to describe the procedure in details and explain the risks.

It aint so bad. All the medical people will be monitoring you to be sure all your vitals are normal and before you know it its over. The only problem is the recovery and physical therapy which is a pain (pardon my pun). Follow their directions with determination and you'll be up and running again.

the worst part of surgery is the waiting. I'm sure everything will go fine. They will give you some good drugs - Its just the thought of it and the recovery time that scare you - it will be ok
