Just so you don't try to figure out how old I am remember I could be telling a story told to me by my parents...
- mimeograph macines (before copiers) with the purple ink.
- phone numbers with letters in the beginning SAR 4876

Ho, ho...I'm old cuz I do! My folks had that kind of phone number, and we kids thought if we sniffed enough freshly inked mimeo paper in class we could get high. Ah...the good old days...

I remeber the mimeograph machines. Sniffing the ink in class was a cheap thrill. Don't much recall the alpha-numeric phone numbers.
I do remember looking up information for essays and reports by using a microfeche machine and not the internet.

I had to use a gestetner machine to produce my high school newspaper back when god was still in puberty. While I may miss a few old devices, like the Selectric typewriter, I can honestly say that mimeograph machines were invented in Hell's R&D establishment, and are certainly still used there.

I remember both! And I used to love the smell of the papers when they came out of the mimeograph machine!

I loved the smell of mimeographed quiz papers in school.
And my phone # growing up was ATwater 2-3880.

Yes I remember purple fingers from handing those out in class. And phone numbers where you listened to see if it was your ring, a party line.
