i am i luv with a guy and he with me for past 2 years. we both belong to hindu families but of different castes.our both families are orthodox in marrige matters within community.i am a single child.my parents luv me a lot.i havent told them about him.there will be a big show down when i will.they wouldnt allow me to marry him in any circumstances.dont want to hurt them plus cant leave my boyfriend.what should i do. how can one choose between ones family and luv.

you will have to make a choice, if you are sure he is the one, marry him.
it is easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission.

The "true" colors of the Indian "love, pya,ishq, mohabbat" surface only after the marraige..Two of my cousins had utterly failed love marraiges in India..
On the otherhand many of my friends here in U.S. are happily "love married"..so I guess ur surroundings play an important role...and many IT(software) couples with high education and high income are also ejoying successful love marraiges..
Expect a lot of resistance from either set of parents..esp in midlle class..
ps: my ex girl friend's name is shalini..gosh... u brought so many memories back...
