I just wanted to ask who would leave there job at macys to go work at duane reade and why?

Because that is what my friend did and honestly I feel that was a real stupid move. He was at macy's for about a year and now going to duane read he will be getting paid less and worked harder. trust me I know- i worked at duane reade for about 2 years and almost worked at macys but changed my mind. But tell me what you think????

at macys he just did register in the pots and pans section. In duane reade he will be doing nights where he will be doing 4-12 totes by himself, packing it out and facing before the morning shift. Maycs to me was easier

It's your friends choice. Maybe there weren't many opportunities for him at Macys or maybe he just wasn't happy there. I've never heard of Duane Reade, so I can't speak for or against them, but if you're friend's not happy there either - I'm sure he'll keep looking.

Obviously something didn't feel right to him in Macy's.

I've had three friends with work experience at Macy's and its not as EASY as one might think. There is a lot of pressure by management to get more productivity out of the employees.

Also Macy's is a BIG store with lots of bosses. Duane Reade is a much smaller store and the variety of job responsibilities are not
as great.

For example Macy's Shoe associates have to sell, get the shoes, restock the the ones that don't sell, dust & neaten the displays. For some people that is asking to much when you are basically working on commision

I think its your friend's decision where he works, he must have done it for a reason. so stop beating yourself and him up over it, whether its stupid or not!

btw, i love macy's:D
