I would take both. Not only is it handy if they want one or the other, but if not, you have the option of submitting whichever one you did better on. Not that you can REALLY compare the two, but you will know which score you are more proud of. A 1300 on the SAT is great, but compared to a 35 on the ACT...lol

Anyway, good luck.

Most schools take both. Western states usually take the SAT. I'm not sure about the East Coast, but the ACT is more common in the middle of the US than on the West Coast.

It doesn't matter too much which one you take. Just make sure the school will accept whichever one you take.

Eastern schools generally prefer the SAT and western universities generally prefer the ACT; however, the most prestigious schools prefer the SAT. It is a reasoning test where as the ACT tests acquired knowledge.

Get the catalouges (sp?) or go online and see which they want. I'm guessing SAT - I think it's been around longer.

Good luck
