It used to be used to designate a special performance Pontiac Grand Prix in the early/mid '60s, like bigger engines, 2 four barrel carburetors, sometimes 3 two barrel carbs. Then Mustang fastbacks were called 2+2s for 2 in front and 2 setting in the back seat. A couple of European sports cars used 2+2 for some reason like Jaguar XKE 2+2 (same reason as Mustang used it).
Other than that, 2+2=4.
