Dancing has been around as long as mankind. The free form expression of our joys and sorrows has always been evoked in the bodily movements and expressions known as dance. Dancing is commonly referenced in the Old Testament. I am sure that Adam and Eve's children engaged in dancing. Anthropologists have found evidence of dancing in the caveman existence. That is prehistoric and I'm sure there is no way to know for sure when that started.

As human beings, we are wired to dance, just as we are wired for speech, music and symbol creation/recognition. You can see that even babies feel the urge to bounce or sway in response to rhythm even if they've never seen people dance. Your heart rate goes up if you hear a pounding rhythm and you feel compelled to move to it. Therefore, dance is just one of the ways that humans have expressed themselves since the dawn of mankind.
