This is easy. Either Middle Linebacker or Inside Line Backer. Most likely Middle!!

If your 40 time isn't too fast, that's why the coach is suggesting Center - you will be working in the interior of the line with a limited amount of space to be responsible for. Likewise, he might be suggesting Tight End as an alternate position because TE's have to block on most plays. Blocking is valued more than receiving at the TE spot.
On defense, since you have limited speed, you might be able to play Middle/Inside Linebacker, or as a run-support Safety.

You apparently are short and weak. You can not even bench your body weight.... I would play wherever the coach says to play on work on getting stronger and faster before you chose where to play.

Edit: That just means your friend is really weak.....

you are too short but at 5-8 you could be a db but if you work with a stregnth and speed coach you can be a rb 5-8 185 plus but get the speed up could work

I think center would be a good choice. BTW to the person that said striker: this is american football not european football.

If you are short and strong, i think the best position that fit you the best is fullback. You can could other guys to open up hole for the running back. Power fullback. Be a fullback.

To me it sounds like you would fit as a DE or an OLB depending on your teams style of defense. good luck.

Depends if you are still growing or not. You could always shine on special teams first.
