No, it's fine. It is used in early pregnancy to find out exactly how far along you are. Ultrasound is fine for a fetus.

It is very safe. This is my fourth pregnancy, but had my first pelvic ultrasound ever last month at 9 weeks pregnant. With my other pregnancies, I didn't get an ultrasound done until I was about 5 months and it was done with a full bladder and on my stomach. My doctor wanted to know exactly how far along I was so he had me get a pelvic ultrasound done. This can give you an exact date, either 5 days before or after the due date.

Yes it is safe. When you are really early in pregnancy it's easier to see the baby with a pelvic ultrasound. It's the same thing as a regular ultrsaound they just put hte device in a different place.

Yes, it's fine....ultrasounds aren't like X-rays....also your cervix is closed up tight. A pelvic is the only way to see the baby when it is really tiny......it can help them rule out cysts and ectopic pregnancy. I've had it done 3 times....it was so cool to see the baby when she was only like 10 weeks...she looked like a microscopic little person!! It's not that uncomfortable especially since you don't have to have a full bladder like the other ones!!!
