at night just about everything is quieter and there is less disturbance around. just like sounds are louder in the dark. no interference so to say. but, they probably are around in the day, we are just too occupied to notice. we also don't have our senses on guard for anything that may seem odd when we are up and about. at night we are more prone to pay attention to everything we hear or see. it's like going into a subconscious "guard" mode.

I think there are a couple of reasons for this.
1. most people aren't home during the day
2. when they are home they're busy or watching tv but, when they go to bed are finally aware of what is going on around them.
3. In the light of day it may be hard to see spirits
4. If you heard a loud noise during the day you'd think it was someone else in the house and ignore it but, at night when everyone's in bed you'd wonder what the heck the sound was.
5. Supposedly the veil between our world and the spirit world is thinner at night.

I feel my Grandmother that has passed over about 41 years ago only in the day if she is seen with me by my friends they know I am ill or about to become ill : )
I have seen many spirits in the day time I would say more in the daylight then at night.
I think it is people just don't pay attention during the day have you ever got a chill all of a sudden or the hair on your arms just stand up that is when Spirit is near by ?
Love & Blessings

Maybe they are like vampires, and they are afraid of the light. JK. Its hard to tell thouh. It's not that tey only come out at night, it's that its that time of night when you get tired and start to hallucinate more, or at least hear things, not that they are not they, it's just that that is when you are looking for them that it counts. Look for them in the daytime, and I can almost promise you tht they'll be there. Nighttime is like Halloween, when you get creeped out from the slightest chill in the wind. It is creepy, with the slightest sound strtling you, especially at night, even more so if you live alone in an apartment or something. Its when you find them most. No doubt about it!

it really depends on the spirit and person. I have had encounters during the day. Once i was a littel gurl and saw a my uncle (who died before i was born) I asked my grandmother who the man was she told me it was him, this happened at about 7 in the morning. My last encounter happened late afternoon in Tombstone, Arizona not in an area highly known to be haunted. It was one of my scariest experiences.

From what I know you can encounter spirits both during day and night. But you're most vulnerable when sleeping so you are most likely to see those things at night.

That's a new one on me. Spirits do not have any limiter to times of darkness. TV is catering to those who accept the night as scary.

I've got news we don't encounter spirits at all. Only distraught people with extreme nervous conditions believe in ghost. Christians of course believe in spirits and souls and all that after life nonsense. But strangely no one has ever saw one except those kind of people.

Things are calmer at night, so it's easier to get someones attention. Additionally, with the absence of light, it's easier to manifest at night, and takes less energy from the spirit.

it is the concept of the Aether & Sunlight.
the Aether being the ambient atmosphere (the air we breathe and the weather we experience in a large open area) & Sunlight being such a powerful energy surge that disables communication.
part of the concept of early halloween.... that the veil that seperated our world and the spirit world was at its thinest....thereby causing the ability of communication - - - so too the veil is thin at night.
