Because Joel Piniero, Manny Delcarmen, Julian Tavarez, Mike Timlin, and Craig Hansen, i dont think, are going to be very good... i think THAT pen should scare the crap out of Boston fans.

Nope, not a Red Sox fan, and Yes, im a Yankee fan.... but i agree that the Red Sox starting 4, because i dont think Papelbon will be a Starter very long so only their top 4.. i think the Red sox 4 is a little better than the Yankees top 4.. a LITTLE better lol. that said, i think that Red sox bullpen is going to be SCAREY bad without Papelbon in there. Him starting shifts everyone out of position and up a notch, and it was a Horror show last year and now guys haveta do more? No way.. I say 4 blown save and Papelbon is a Closer again and anyone who thinks not REALLY needs to wake up.

and Brenden Donnely is a real good set up guy from anaheim.. but he is NOT a closer and if thats who is going to close games for the Red Sox... Good Luck!

See, that makes sense, Chad Cordero. The Red sox could go that route..and he's very good, not elite, but he is VERY good. But, why go with a Chuck Steak, in Cordero, when you have a Grade-A, prime cut, Kobe T-bone Steak, in Jonathan Papelbon... we Know he's a ELite Dominant Closer, God knows what he will be as a starter... i just dont get it.

Ballzy Below...... No closer Pitches EVERYDAY genius.. and the ones who do are overworked by their Managers. And if you in yer infinite wisdom think that theres not a huge difference between him throwing possibly 120 pitches in a start and 20 pitches a game over 3 straight games, then yer a moron. There is no strain on Papelbons arm from closing... I think the kid had never closed before in his life and he needed to become aclimated to the role, that simple. His "injury" was more of Fatigue than anything else. If boston took him into the off season as a closer and prepared him as such, he would be fine.... but they arent going to do that, Fine.. but anyone who thinks THAT bullpen, minus Papelbon, is going to do anything but implode, then theyre fooling themselves.. ITS JUST NOT VERY GOOD! Was anyone else not watching last year? and its all of the Same Guys again.. Plus one more schizo in Piniero. Donnelly is good, but one arm does not a pen make.

Boston is going to be hurt by the fact that Paplebon is not closing and i think that they will put him back in the bullpen.Boston very well may have the best rotation in baseball if everything goes well but what kind of advantage is it if your starter gives up a run or two and then the bullpen gives up seven or eight runs? Bostons starters have the potential to be good but a lot of things have to come together to make them what everyone thinks they are. They have a lot of improving to do.

Papelbon will not go back to closing this year. The reason he is in the starting rotation this year is because his arm can not handle the stress of closing. I do not think Pineiro is the answer and I would keep my ears open for Chad Cordero getting traded to the Sox. The trade makes a lot of sense for the Red Sox and also for Washington because they could use him to land a couple top prospects from the Sox (ie: Hansen, Bowden, Bard, Buchholtz, Ellsbury, Lars Anderson). Cordero is young but Washington needs a lot more help for their future than 1 player.

That could be of the worst bullpens in baseball. The Red Sox will have five blown saves in a row before Papelbon becomes the closer again.

papelbon will not be back to starting, and the red sox will go with whoever they can stick in the closer's spot...sometimes that works and it has worked for teams in the past, but the majority of the time this becomes trouble in the long run...the red sox do not have the best rotation in baseball by the way, schilling is aging, no one knows how dice-k will be, and beckett is way overrated

You forgot to mention the guy that will actually be closing for the Sox. Donnelly.
Paps will stay a starter and get over 15 wins.

You are starting to hurt my brain with your comments....
What do you not understand about his injury last year?
The DOCTORS do not want him closing because of the strain of pitching every day.

As a Sox fan, I'd say they'll throw Hansen into the role after (or if) Piniero struggles...
BUT
2 bad the Red Sox have BY FARRRR the best rotation in baseball,so it doesn't really matter

I can tell you're not a Red Sox fan. And Papelbon will not be closing this season. And the Red Sox have many good closing candidates.

I'm not sure but I sure loved him as a closer... He was good for me in fantasy baseball last year...

I think he should be a closer... Every team needs a dominant closer.
