The USB is broken, and I was told that I can get an adaptor to slide in to where the wireless card is.. but is there another option where I can use both? IBM says that on my laptop, I'd need a whole new motherboard to fix the usb.

Only if it fits into the Slot.Since so many cards and the hardware are changing, the PCMCIA slot is basically being phased out, so there are many adaptors for this which can do a number of different things. Unless you can put a new Card into the Motherboard, in most cases I would probably doubt it, but worth a try at Compusa or a similar place

The only other option I can think of is *IF* a computer repair shop would attempt to replace the USB socket.itself.

But I'm sure an "authroized IBM repair shop" would never agree to do so..... So, you'll have to find an independent repair shop.
