what was the temperature? what did she put them in? Why would she put them outside? Direct sunlight on a normal day in a non-glass container wouldnt kill them in a half hour. But depending on other things it could be many reasons.
ADDITIONAL INFO: yep she cooked em. about the same as a microwave. Good going what a nice way to die. Probably shouldnt do that again i would think

yes small animals are not suppose to be put in the sun, however, a nice shaded area might have no killed them, if they grew up in the house putting outside was not the best idea, no matter how old they are. You might want to tell your friend to get a book and read up on the mice more before getting more.

Yes, Mice do not do well in direct sunlight, especially if they were not white mice since darker colors act like a solar panel.

Duh... don't you know that an enclosed, poorly ventilated area will heat quickly in sunlight? next time you get the chance, go sit in a car with the windows cracked just a little and no air-flow *no AC, and the car must not be moving*on a warm day in direct sunlight.

You will be well aware in 5-10minutes of why the poor mice died.

i would say so. the water adds to the humidity and raises the teps faster in glass or plastic tanks. I lost a gini pig that way. I had bombed my house for fleas so I took my pig outside into the shade, 20 minutes latter i went to check on her to find one of my kids had moved her cage into the sun and it killed her.

it could have. They could have overheated.. Maybe there wasn't enough ventilation. you shouldn't keep pet mice in direct sunlight, they need shade. So I'm guessing that's what happend...
