I have experienced something similar while breastfeeding each of my two children. I was very worried about it with my first child, since breast cancer runs in my family (although the women usually develop it after menopause). It started late in my first pregnancy, and I continually bugged my ob-gyn about it. She checked it several times, and said it was probably just a lymph gland or a milk duct. Since it has come and gone throughout two pregnancies and breastfeeding two children, I have just decided it must be a milk duct. I used to worry about it a lot, but since my ob-gyn checked it for me (and I intend to make sure she checks it at my next annual, which is coming up!), I stopped worrying. I recommend having it checked out just to be sure, but don't stop breastfeeding because of it. I can't think of anything that it could be that would cause you to need to stop breastfeeding, and if you stop suddenly on that side, you could get engorged or worse (mastitis!). Maybe see if they seem to get a little bigger closer to feeding time -- this would suggest that they are milk ducts. Good luck!

I had the exact same thing. I developed a hard lump in my underarm and 2 days later came down with mastitis (fever of 102, shaky, sweaty). I would go into the shower and rub the lump towards my nipple.
Do NOT stop breastfeeding or else the problem won't fix. Breastfeed more often if you can get baby to latch on, or even pump. You can also go see the doctor or a lactation consultant.

My first bit of advice is to see a doctor, but if you have lumps under your arm it could be from your lymph system clearing out an infection. I would focus on the other breast for feeding right now, but make sure to pump the other one. I don't have any knowledge of passing along cancerous material, if that's what you are worried about. That's not really how cancer spreads. But do see a doctor, and I will be thinking about you with your time of worry.

I had a bad case of mastitis when my daughter was 2 months old. "Often, mastitis occurs within the first six weeks after birth (postpartum)." (Mayo health clinic) Mastitis is an infection of the milk ducts. It happens most often when a milk duct becomes plugged, which is common early in nursing, as your breasts can become engorged. Keep feeding on that breast in varying positions, and get into your doctor ASAP. If you're not careful you could get an abscess (you may be in the early stages with the lumps) which is only treatable by surgically draining the infection.

I would say, if you are worried, to get yourself checked, but breastfeeding CAN do this to you when your milk comes in.
I suggest GENTLE massage of the whole area (or as heavy as you can stand), or to stand in the shower and let the water pour onto them. This sounds like they may have gotten a bit clogged, and you just need to massage them out. This won't hurt the baby, and in fact, will hurt you MORE if you don't feed from that breast. If you're REALLY worried that you could do damage to your child, at LEAST pump that breast, because if it IS a clog (and it sounds like the ones I had when BF-ing), not pumping will just cause more milk to build up.

It sounds like a breast infection. Or your lymph system.
Don't stop breast feeding just yet, call your doctor, but most likely you have a clogged duct or something...Breastfeeding does make things a little lumpy...so don't be too alarmed...just talk to the doc to be safe.
Congratulations by the way!

Keep breastfeeding...and call the gyno for a checkup.
It's sounds exactly like a touch of mastitis (an infection)which is common in breastfeeding moms.
Antibiotics take care of that in a couple of days, and you can keep breastfeeding while you treat it.

You poor thing. Sounds like it could be a plugged duct or something with you lympnodes. Keep nursing. Don't wear a bra or anything if it is irritating the site. Call your doctor and get it checked out. I hope it's nothing.

It might be a plugged duct- I got those when I was breastfeeding. I would give your obgyn a call to make sure though. Check out this link--- it will help if you have a plugged duct.
