There are many causes of dark circles, from age, heredity, allergies, cold or sinus infection, bone structure and glasses which are not so commonly known.

If you would like to apply home remedies to reduce dark circles, here are some of my suggestions:
Buy a box of regular, old fashioned unflavored gelatin (e.g. Knox) from grocery store. Take a small cup or bowl and put in 1 teaspoon of the gelatin mix. Add one tablespoon of boiling water & stir for a minute. Test it on your wrist to make sure it is not too hot. Then, using a cotton ball, pat it under your eyes as you would an eye cream or gel. Go lie down and listen to some music, or take a bath & let it stay on for at least 30 minutes. Then just rinse it off.Gelatin is very high in Vitamin K & Biotin. It will not remove your dark circles on the first application (but you will notice a difference), but if you do it daily for a week, and then 2-3 times a week for maintenance, you should notice a drastic reduction in dark circles.

A simple answer to your question is:
1. A nice cold eye mask. They sell them everywhere. You put it in the freezer or refrigerator and then you can put it around your eyes and it velcros in the back.
2. A wonderful cream you should use is Stri Vectin Eye Cream.
It is a little expensive for a small bottle ($60) but I use it and it works wonderfully I put on every night before I go to sleep.
3. After you use your concealer, you a highlighter (a shimmery white or off white) under your eye which will give the illusion of light.

I'll tell you what I tell everyone else who asks this question. Dark circles like the ones you describe are hereditary so either you buy a good quality concealor to hide them you learn to accept them. I have deep set eyes so of course I have that problem too, I just use physicians formula concealor, doesn't rub off right away.

Physicians formula concealor is the best thing I've tried. If you read on the box it tells you that yellow tinted concealor is best for dark circles and green tinted is best for redness. Also I've found that liquid concealor doesn't last as long as powder on me, but that kind of thing is trial and error to find out which works best for your skin.
