I'd report do an incident report and have an administrator sign it. Nothing may ever come of it, but this day in age, kids lie about EVERYTHING. Next thing you know half the school will be saying the teacher DID the striptease. The most important thing in teaching is CYA!!! How sad is that? Teacher needs to be taking a look at her classroom discipline/rules if students feel comfortable enough to say stuff like that to her.

I would call it sexual harassment. That would seriously make me uncomfortable. I would tell my student exactly that. I would say, "That can be considered sexual harassment. The comment is completely innapropriate and if you repeat any further comments, you will be explaining yourself to the vice principal."

Many time the student is just joking around, and I'll let them slide with just a warning. If there is a repeated problem, then I will.

Students need to learn very quickly that sexually or racially offensive comments will not be tolerated in their future work environments.

I think that is just the boy being immature, if the teacher did not like it at all, then she knows what to do, either leave it alone and give him a second chance, or report to the principle. Now if you are the teacher and asking us this question, then obviously you were offended by it and need to report to your headmaster. Hoped this helped you. I grew up with a bunch of immature boys and sometimes you just got to let it slide, other times it is time to take the extreme measurements.

No.

It's rude and inappropriate, but not sexual harassment. The student has no power over her.

If the teacher said it to the student, THAT would be sexual harassment.

joke or not this is not an appropriate dialogue between a student and a teacher, sexual harrassment? all depends on the context of the situation but some teachers may think so

Obviously it's innapropriate, but it's not sexual harassment. The student should have been punished, but not arrested.

Now if it were the other way around...Houston, we have a problem!!!

sexual harassment is touching someoene unapproprately or forcing them into sexual activity with threats such as loss of job. I would say a one time joke is not sexual harassment. but if he continues it could be considered harassment period.

It's inappropriate, but I wouldn't call it harrassment. The young man's father should give him an attitude adjustment and teach him about being a gentleman. But, it doesn't warrant a legal action.

Is the teacher male or female/ In either case, it doesn't sound either politically correct or very smart.
