I am wondering if you all have any advice. I don't go to church, but I do believe strongly in faith and I was raised as a Christian. I do want this job, but do you think they may look upon me negatively because I do not attend church?! Any advice as far as what I should say?!

As strange as this may sound, it probably won't make a difference that you're not a practicing christian!

When it comes to employment, it's the job requirements that matter. Although the employer is a diocese, you don't need to be a practicing christian or even a christian at all! Unless you applying to be a priest, it doesn't matter. I'm a PK (preacher's kid) and there were non-christians who worked at the diocese we belonged to. It does help if you are of the same religion and practicing one at that, but it's not necessary if you the IT person.

They might look down on you if you admit taht you don't attend church, but I don't think they can legally ask you that in a job interview, even if it is with a christain oraganization.

Nonetheless, regardless of where your interview is the strategy is the same: Tell them what they want to hear and hope for the best. Its always worked for me.

Let me say this. Some churches paint a picture of NOAH the master builder; DAVID the master giant slayer; etc. etc. etc. GOD chooses those who understands that they are nothing and HE IS GOD! Those who are willing to do things of which they know nothing. The religious leaders of JESUS" time missed it and many still do to this day. If your will is in line with GOD"S will you will be used of HIM and if this job is a part of that; so be it. Church matters but it is not a replacement for that close personal relationship with GOD! Good things happen to those who trust in HIM!

You shouldn't lie and tell them you do go if you don't. You might get a feeling that you should attend if you work for them. I'd tell them I hadn't been very active in church attendence, but that I would be going more often in the future.

What is the job, exactly? Are they allowed to ask you about that?
