Which out of the new bands should i check out
Trivium, Godsmack, System of a Down, Amon Amarth or Slipknot

Of the bands you listed, I would check out System of A Down and Slipknot, though it really depends on what you are into...

Why not check 'em all out? Different people have different tastes. Personally I like soad. Not too much into slipknot. And none of the rest. All of godsmacks songs seem to sound the same. And the other two... if I remember, sounded like chick metal.

Personaly I would go with GodSmack. They have a lot of great tunes. But nonetheless they are all good!

The safe answer is all of the above. Only way you'll know which appeal to you....
personally I love SOAD.
