We are still in Iraq and it is chaos. If we pulled out now, there would be civil war in Iraq until someone won and/or took control. Only then would we have to worry about them coming here to attack us and by that time they would probably have laid wasted to the country and killed half the people.
So, why end the war? It is costing us billions of dollars, Americans are dying and democracy cannot be forced upon a nation.War is not a good thing, unless you have shares in Haliburton. I understand that this war is about our way of life, which just so happens to depend mightily on oil. If we really want to make our nation safer then we will reduce our dependency on foreign oil.
If you are so gung-ho for this war, when are you enlisting? Or did you server already? If not, you can stuff that chicken comment up you @&&. Peace be with you.

because we WON'T win. it will end up just being a huge mess and a waste of money and lives like vietnam. Iraq hasnt and never had a force capible a attacking the US at home. Iraq has not had any weapons of mass distruction. 3,000+ americans died and tens of thousands more now suffer with life changeing injuries. sorry to break it to you WE WILL lose iraq most Americans just want to go home, iraqis are home and they are defending it with nothing to lose. The average American lost nothing when they left Vietnam, Vietnam never attacked American soil, The average American will lose nothing when we leave iraq. Iraq will not attack American they are not capible of such an attack they just want to live in peace free of American imperialism. Iraq has little if any airforce a weak navy how are they a treat to American life? Iraq was not responible for 9/11, Wake up! Bush has lied about the reasons we are there.

I think the two biggest mistakes people are making with regards to terrorists are who they are, and why they do it. Most people (liberal or conservative) believe that they are products of religious fanaticism and "brain washed" into killing without justification. I agree that their activities are criminal, and they are greatly influenced by religious fanatics, but more importantly the main factor in their behavior exists in a political reality.
Islamic terrorism is a new phenomenon brought to fruition by Western imperialism and globalization. For example Iran is an Islamic ruled state because the CIA overthrew their democratically elected government and replaced it with a King. Palestinian terrorists do what they do because they have had their lands and homes stolen from them. The way they fight back is not justified, but if you were in their position you would do the same thing.
This war on terrorism only creates more terrorists. Every time an Iraqi is tortured, raped, or shot by an American solder or sub-contractor 10,000 new terrorists are created.
We have our dirty hands all over the Middle-East and we have been the ones creating an atmosphere of oppression and hatred.
This war isn't protecting us; it is making our situation worse. In this modern world there is no hiding any more; we can't continue to play hard ball and not expect others not to play hard ball back.

i am disgusted with the people advocating withdrawal of the troops
#1 if we pull out now, then the lives lost re meaningless because the terrorist won
#2 these people are hypocrites--for some reason as long as they arent making decisions, they criticize all decisions made, but they feel like because they live in america they should have freedom, but who cares about others, the american belief is pathetic. what happened to caring about people, saving them from opression and tyranny
#3 if they would be quiet long enough for the president to worry about the war and not havin to defend his decisions the war could be nearly over
however, its not just one group of people, not liberals or conservatives, thats the biggest problem in america is everyone fights with others instead of trying be united. whenever the terrorists bomb something, they may not be tryin to kill, by doing this they know they will cause unrest in congress. If we the people would unite, we would prevail, freedom would ring for all

There's a basic issue with your logic. It's impossible to win at all costs. Simply because "all costs" includes the total destruction of our own society. While this may be extreme, it's likely that if we stay another 10 years, we'll run out of soldiers. This means that we'll have to draft or rethink how we train/deploy.
I also disagree with the item of emboldening the terrorists. The message, I think, is clear: we don't want to be involved in your mess. Terrorists are coming for us, Iraq or not. Better to use our resources to fight them than to fight someone else's civil war.
You see, our work in Iraq makes us a target. It makes our soldier's targets. It also "emboldens" (as you say) factions that already hate us to say "see... they're here and they're destroying the place."
The "are you chicken" question is uncalled for. If you want a reasonable discussion, don't pull that nonsense, OK?

Why can't conservative see that if we stay in this war until we so-called "win" that we won't benefit in any way. You conservatives are so stupid. Liberals may be "chicken" but at least we have a brain and common sense. And you're assuming that if they US was to draw out of the war that the terrorists would attack us again, you're using fear and assumation and it's stupid. Fall into a civil war, come on man! There are civil wars going on around the world and we aren't doing a thing about it! As if a civil war would affect you! E-mail me if you want to keep up this rant.

Define what win means when it comes to Iraq.
My definition is to turn Iraq into a society that the other middle-eastern nations wish to emulate.
So, with the situation the way it is now - how do we get there? We are just the police in a big gang war.
Bush went in with no plan and a lot of wishful thinking. He thought if we got rid of Sadam that the whole country would kiss is feet. Wrong, and he knew it before we started this mess.

How can you possibly justify saying that people that want the war to end are "chicken?" So by default does that make you "brave?" Wow... how brave of you to not enlist in the military but support sending other people (the REAL heroes) over there. Oh and by the way, congratulations on being a part of the first generation of actual doublethinkers.
"To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully-constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which cancelled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them; to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy; to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again: and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself. That was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the art of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word 'doublethink' involved using doublethink"

Although we started this war, it's now a civil war. We have no business being there. How is fighting in Iraq going to keep terrorists from coming here and attacking us? It's not like we have wonderful security here.
Some people thought Vietnam was a war we could win. Didn't happen.
Am I chicken? Maybe. But you'd have to be really stupid to go to Iraq and not be afraid. Are you going? Are you going to send your children?

the terrorists are already emboldened.
Within the Iraqis, who presumably are on our side, are traitors and al qaeda spies. We cannot trust the Iraqis.
Iraq is aleady in chaos, and in a virtual civil war.
The war in Iraq is not worth the Billion dollars per week and daily american deaths. Not worth it. Sorry.
There are terrorist cells already in the US, and they were here long before the US invaded Iraq.
Your arguments are silly.
