say you leave work or school or wherever you have to park on the street, not in the parking lot. when you come out to leave you are sandwhiched between two cars with little room to get out without hitting either car. how would you get out if you dont know who the cars belong to? say either car was damaged, are you responsible for this? just a thought, this didnt happen to me.

If you attempted to drive your car out of the parking spot and damaged a car in the process, you would be responsible for any damages incurred.

But, if you are parked within the space of your parking spot and another car is within that area, you can contact the police to deal with the situation. The police would more than likely issue a citation for Improper Parking and have the car towed.

If someone doesnt leave you a little wiggle room to get your car out of a parking spot, then they DESERVE to have thier car hit a couple times to teach them a lesson!

try carrying a camera and measure-tape or ruler with you. if you believe the cars are too close take a picture of the gap between with the measure. this will help so that if you hit and they were too close, you might be able to take the complaint to civil court (or whichever it would fall under) or just to theirs and your insurance. also, in the event you do hit, take pictures of the impact right away as well as the license plate and if you meet the person, them too.
