I was wondering...when talking about the elements, not the animals, which elements go together? Does anyone have a good book suggestion on this?

There are 5 elements. Metal, water, wood, fire, & earth. Draw a 5 point star. Then draw a circle that passes thru each tip of each finger ot the star. Now write the 5 elements in the order I wrote them in a clockwise manner. When you trace the star, each element 'defeats' the next one. So, metal overcomes wood, wood overcomes earth, earth overcomes water, water overcomes fire, fire overcomes metal. When you follow the cirle in a clockwise manner, the elements 'feed' the next. For example, wood feeds fire, fire feeds earth, earth feeds metal, metal feeds water, water feeds wood.

The Chinese Horoscope is a complex system featuring terrestrial and astrological 'forces'; the five elements (Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth); the polar opposites of Yin and Yang; directions (East, South, West, North and their various combinations); stones (precious and semi-precious); hours (12 two-hour periods); months and seasons.

Fire gets on well with Air, Earth gets on well with Water. Fire doesn't get on with Earth or Water and Water doesn't get on with Air. It makes sense if you think about the fact that water and earth will extinguish a fire, but water on the earth will make plants grow, etc.
