There was no specific capital of Wales before 1955 when Cardiff was declared the capital by HM Queen Elizabeth II at the opening ceromony of the then Empire Games.

It was a tough fight between Wales' two large cities - Swansea and Cardiff, the coin eventually dropping on Cardiff simply because it already had some administrative offices there.

London was the de facto capital as it is today of the whole of the United Kingdom.

By the way as London is the capital of the United Kingdom, England technically has no capital city.

You really should look up Welsh history. Wales had no capital city. As mentioned due to England not wishing to recognise Wales as a separate place from England. Previous before English dominance Wales was not a united country with Prince's of different areas.

"Cardiff was only made the capital of Wales in the mid-1950s, prior to this the English government refused to recognise Wales' need for a capital, maintaining that it was just a part of England".
