This is not something I have ever thought about, being as straight as an arrow. I suppose they could 'go Dutch' or take turns paying.

I just wanted to say, very good question, im for those who have said by turn, or the one who has asked for a date..Dutch style evokes a bit of formality and distance esp if its smo u really like..no.

In my relationship, we take turns paying. It is nicer than going "dutch." It all evens out in the end.
(dutch mean you each pay your own way)

Well, usually the person whom asked the other person out should have the courtesy to pay for dinner, with no strings attached.
