Yes, Birmbaum's guides are excellent, however, since they are approved by Disney, they tend NOT to tell you everything you need to know.

My pick: The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World by Bob Sehlinger and Len Testa. It is updated annually and has tips and reviews from many visitors and fans. They even have plans on how to visit each of the four Disney parks based on the time of year you are visiting AND how many days you have to spend at the resort that you can cut out of the book. Hotels, Disney and otherwise, are also included in the book. There is even chapters on Sea World and Universal Orlando, which are not affliated with Disney.

Another fun one is PassPorter Walt Disney World Resort: The Unique Travel Guide, Planner, Organizer, Journal, and Keepsake! by Jennifer Marx.

But get the Unofficial Guide; you won't miss a thing if you use it.

And for Web sites, visit www.Mouseplanet.com. Some of the best and up-to-date news about the parks from daily visitors who DO NOT work for Disney.

In my opinion, Birnbaum's guide to Walt Disney World has worked the best for me and my family. I have picked up a couple of different ones, but Birnbaum's was easy to read and easy to use. We go to Disney often, I recommend this to anyone who is going. Also, check out www.disneyworld.com for some good info, and www.allears.net

Birnbaum's Walt Disney World Without Kids 2007
I am not sure who all you are taking, if you are taking kids or not, but these are my favorite

I definitely agree that the Unofficial Guide or Passporter's is the way to go. They will tell you things that the others won't. My favorite website is AllEarsnet.com. I swear, if you can't find the answer there then it isn't worth knowing.
