When something really good happens to you (and this is assuming that you believe in God).......are you really surprised that God took the time do do something for you, since He usually just ignores you?
And please, I don't need anybody telling me that "Sometimes the answer is NO" or anything like that......I've been through some horrendous stuff in my life that He could have prevented, but didn't. I don't see how or why I should give thanks for situations that have left me permanently scarred and bitter and less of a woman than I wanted to be......
Anyway, all I wanted to know was if you are surprised when He actually does something on your behalf......

I never said I don't believe in Him......and maybe it would be easier if I didn't.....then I wouldn't feel as though I'm at the bottom of the list.....

Sometimes I feel very suprised when I pray for something, and it actually happens. However I try to remain gratefult to God at all times. But sometimes I do wish he would speak a little more clearly and a little louder. Then again maybe we need to learn to listen better.

I'm not surprised, sometimes I'm due for some friggin good. I think we've all been through some horrendous stuff but it's not God's fault. You have to realize that maybe you're here to learn things and your road might be easier or harder than the next guy.I believe that maybe your scarring and bitterness is your issue to work through and maybe you should try to look on the bright side of things. I don't want to compare battle scars but in life I believe no one escapes without them.

Very surprised ! There are things in my life that I could have learned just as well in a less harsh manner. Whenever I go back home most people that knew me when I was younger are amazed that I am still on the green side of grass. So when something really good happens I wait for the other shoe to drop.

Heres the answer I gave my First grade Sunday School class about the tornadoes...God gives us tests, or allows tests in some cases,..and these tests are hard, and are usually pop tests..but we learn...are at least should..sometimes I keep getting the same test over and over..For instance...the Amish thing..the witness those people gave about their faith...man...how many life's did that touch...yea it was tragic..awful...but those people who suffered, the grace they had..the source could only be God, how many folks found God from that alone? I find with some time and distance from whatever bad it was that happened to me..I can see the lesson...and I can see where I have grown from the lesson...Life is hard..these tests help us well...toughen up..see the light..whatever..IMHO...When somthing good happens I pray thank you...somthing bad, I pray for understanding..

If it is "God" that is doing the good things in my life for me, then yes, i am extremely surprised He took the time to notice me. However, i tend to be more of a believer of you make your own destiny. Humans have free will, says so in the Bible. So, while God may smile upon me and my life, he isnt the one making my choices, he simply gives me an opporunity which he wants me to recognize and act upon. If i dont, its my own fault, not God's. I dont really know if that was an answer to your question or not, but answering it made me feel good, so thanks.

It always make me want to spit or something when I hear someone on TV say Thank God! when there child is safe from the kidnapper or something. If god had anything to do with it, the child wouldn't be with the pervert to begin with. People always say, thank god with it goes there way, but never ask why god let it happen in the first place. I believe in god, but I am not afraid of him.

Sometimes the best prayers are the ones that were not answered. There is a reason for everything we may not understand now or ever, but it may have been to help someone in a way we cant understand.

No I'm not surprised. I don't think that I'm so great that I should be saved from all my tribulations. The fact is that we earn what we recieve...if bad is happening maybe I need to step up the good that I give. Give then take, don't wait around to be given to.

I realized that I am the person that I have become because of all the trials I have been placed in, and thankful and grateful for the wisdom to know that all things happen for a reason.

I understand, and so relate to this. I guess we both have to feel lucky we've survived so far, and continue to go on, with our heads held high. I don't even know what I believe anymore. I only know I've taken as much as I want to. Good luck my dear friend. I hope, and pray things get better for you. ~~~~~~~
