I have found out Im having a baby girl in May and planned to call her Seren, which means Star in Welsh. I have been think of this name from the moment i have found out im pregnant! Now I hear today the Charlotte Church is pregnant and she is intending to call her baby Seren!!! im miffed because I wanted a nice, unique pretty name. If she calls her child this it will be as common as Sarah in a few years!! Now, do I change my mind or go with it? I know its not a major deal really, but its dammed annoying!

It's a great name, and if you absolutely love it, then name your daughter that! Like Welsh Dragon said, what if she has a boy and you end up picking a name you don't like as much as Seren? Follow your heart, not your head or what other people think. Yes, people will make references between your daughter and C.C's daughter (if she has one). Yes, it will be a different name. No, C.C probably does not have as sentimental reasons to name her daughter Seren as you. Once again, go with your heart and what you want to do. I hope you make the right decision. Good luck and a major congrats on your new addition!

Congratulations! Charlotte Church may not even name her child that. This has been the name you've wanted since day one--if you really like it that much you'll keep it. Look around and see if there are any other names that compare or are better. Whatever you decide don't just throw a great name that you love out the window because a celebrity named her child the same. Best of Luck!

I think that is an absolutely beautiful name and you should not let a celebrity take it away from you! Use it anyway. I don't really think it will catch on as much as you think. I plan on naming my future daughter Iris & I was afraid it would become trendy when Jude Law named his daughter that but it doesn't seem to be the case. Good luck!

I know how you feel...we had planned on naming our third daughter Emma forever liking the name not only because it was pretty but it was an older name you didn't hear too often....and then of course Rachel on friends had to go and name her little girl Emma causing an explosion of Emma's.(We still chose that name for our daughter)
I say go with it...it is obviously a name you love and who cares what Charlotte Church names her kid....besides you will have done had your baby first so people can't say you used that name because of her.

Wow, I'd... HATE that. o.o Why do singers and actors always have the need to take unique, rare names and make them common? o.0 I'd say follow your heart about the name, no one cares enough about Charlotte Church to name their baby after hers :P It won't turn out that common unless the whole world goes insane within the next week. And it is a beautiful name, I agree with you. =3

Go with it Lily. I love the name Seren, it doesn't matter what C.C is doing, she will probably call her baby something completely different anyway. What if she has a boy and you haven't called your baby what you wanted?
By the way MY name is Sarah....and I don't know of anymore 'Sarah's around here (W. Glam!)
EDIT: LOL! That's OK, I was just winding you up!!!!! X

You name your baby what you want to name her--don't worry about what Charlotte Church or anybody else. Besides, I think you're due before her anyway so you'll have the name first!!!!

I'm not very fond of the name Seren either way -- whether by you or Charlotte Church.
But if you really love the name, do not be discouraged by its use from a celebrity! The name is still unique and special to you as well as to your group of friends and family! I don't see any big trend of Seren's coming anytime soon.
Good luck and happy naming!

i don't know who charlotte church is...
I named my daughter Jaya meaning victory and then was pleased that I knew no one else with it...I have since found several with several different spellings...the name isn't what makes someone unique...it's the person.
and with all names stand out your back door and yell it 50 times...if it doesn't drive you crazy...keep it.
