Depends on the species...there are several...Great, Snowy, Great Blue, Green, Black-crowned night, Cattle, Tri-colored, Yellow-crowned night, etc. The Black-crowned night Herons are brownish and streaky when they are juveniles but turn a blueish/gray when adults.

There are about 60 species of heron world wide and they come in a range of colours from white to black with blues, yellows, greens, greys and browns along the way. Juveniles have a similar range of colours.

If you want the colour of a particular species, name the species.

All depends on the type of heron. They can be different colours.

there is a heronry near my house. unfortunately during high winds many baby herons are blown out of their nests ad you can see them lying around on the floor! They are blueish grey in colour with a white chest.
