Are you asking how to secure your connection so that only those you authorize can connect to it? This is done in the router's configuration program that came with the router. Check the CD that came with the router, or the manufactures web site.

Put in a WEP key. WEP (wired equivalent privacy) is 802.11's optional encryption standard implemented in the MAC Layer that most radio network interface card (NIC) and access point vendors support.

WEP specifies a shared secret 40 or 64-bit key to encrypt and decrypt the data. With WEP, the receiving station must use the same key for decryption. Each radio NIC and access point, therefore, must be manually configured with the same key.
Thus only those who know your "key" can get on your network

If you would like to protect your wireless network from those not authorized to use it, there should be a security function that you should be able to set up that requires a password from the user before gaining access to the Internet connection. A locked wireless network and a protected one are usually synonymous.

Check the website of your wireless router's manufacturer to see how to set it up (unless there were instructions in the package it came with).

Security enabled wireless network means that it needs authentication/encryption to be able to access the signal.that means that your wireless network is protected.
