I guess I am technically concidered a "christian" although I don't know where I fit in cause my beliefs often differ a lot from any religious catergory. And as a "christian" I still believe that if being gay were so wrong, then God played a really cruel joke when he allowed hermaphrodites to exisit. And couldn't a simple chromosomal imbalance influence one sexual preference? I think the big problem (where it was mentioned in the Bible) was the orgies, and men not only laying with men, but laying with everyone, then yea, there may be a problem. In answer to your initial question, I do not believe that gay is a derogatory term, unless you are meaning for it to be an insult. Also, I realize that a lot of people are going to be offened by my opinion, but it is just that, an opinion.

To say that someone is gay is NOT a bad thing. Why should it be? It's the same as saying someone is so macho...that's not a bad thing to say, right?
It's just that our society is still not that openly tolerant about the "3rd gender".......so any and all remarks about "gay" will spark controversies, no matter how innocent or hypothethical your comments are.
And then you bring in the name of Jesus.....man, you're in deep waters now........surely the right or the left wing, the liberal or the conservative, the believer or the unbeliever will not let you get away with that! You're just asking for it, man......so take the beatings........no excuses, no rationalizations, no mercy!

It depends on how you said it. Gay also means happy, but now it's more of a slang reference for male homosexuals. If you are accusing someone of being gay, then yes. I do agree with you that it is very lousy and immature to judge someone on their sexual orientation. I still wouldn't say anything though, unless the person has "outed" themselves, so-to-speak.

Rock on dude.
Jerry Springer - The Opera, received 40,000 complaints from fundamentlists before it was even broadcast on BBC2.
They hadn't even watched it to justify their protest.
They were moaning about the fact that (in a satire) Jesus may have had homosexual tendencies.
He was a man with long hair who wore sandals and a dress.
What makes the fantasy of floods and frogs so acceptable that the Jesus Lovers feel the need to put the rest of us down.
And what's wrong with pointing out that the Bible is a load of pie-in-the-sky bollocks

Nope, I'm talking to a gay friend right now...I don't give a (beep) what someone prefers. Anyway if they are gay I think they already know it. The gay Jesus thing is probably a bit much. Well, I don't really want to get into it but in the Bible men are not supposed to lie with other men.

The only time you're saying a bad thing if you say someone is gay is if you use the word as a pejorative, rather than a descriptive.
Those who get upset about you wondering if Jesus might have been gay...why? Do they find it to be an awful thing? Do they think that *he* would have found it to be an awful thing? Seems to me that the stories about him make it clear that he found each person to be of value unto themselves, regardless of what labels might have been used to describe them ... that he found only those who used such labels to be offensive, rather than those that labels might apply to.
Some people need to relax and get a life.

If your an athiest, why would it even matter to you if Jesus were gay or not? For one Jesus was not gay, and two think of something a little more "hypothetical" to ask.

Yes..My little sister says something is gay when she thinks something is stupid. She doesn't think of the actual meaning of the word. I try to catch her every time she starts to say it. She once had a lesbian room mate that shaved her head. When she asked how she liked it she said it was gay. Her roommate said that was what I was going for.

Well a lot of gays think Jesus is gay if you follow the rule of making people in his likeness.

being gay is considered a sin. I'm sure you've heard the whole "It's Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" saying before.
And I'm sure you already know that Jesus was in fact not gay, so asking that question doesn't really make any sense.
You probably hate me know huh?
