I recycle more than twice the amount I throw away. Plastic, tins and cardboard go in council recycle bin and I take glass to the local bottle bank. I agree I think it should be made compulsory - what happens when the landfill sites are full?

I recycle glass, plastic and metal and also cardboard and paper. Some glass jars I keep to use for pickles and jams. Cardboard is done through the local council and everything else I take to the local recycling centre.

Any food waste I try to compost for use in the garden

I recycle glass, but unfortunately where I live there is no public recycling bins for plastic or tin.

Yep - and paper/card. Food waste (except meat scraps) is composted; even meat scraps/fat off meat are put out for the birds.
