I have done it before with the cd you press f11 or something like that when i see the dell logo when the computer starts up but i cant remember..? Help Please.

Sounds like you dont know what you are doing.
I would recommend you get some help from someone who does.
Formatting your "computer" (and I assume you are talking about your hard drive) would completely erase everything there, including your operating system. You would then have a useless computer.
And you would need a disk to reinstall an OS.

Call Dell and they will help you through it. After hitting f11 you still need the disk to install the drives and sound card and other programs. It happened to me once and dell helped me through it. There is a lot of steps to reformatting.

well, i have a compaq and all i have to do is hit f11 or something when the logo pops up when i restart it, so thats all i know, but i dont know about dells, sorry.

Cribbag is correct if you do not know what your doing don't mess with it.If you do know a little about computers you can format your hard drive in DOS thru command prompt.The command would be , format/c to format your main hard drive allocation.Please take my advice and do not try this unless your sure you can do it.
