When you have short hair you can get away with just about anything. It's easy to wear simple studs for every day wear, something with color, or a simple pair of hoops. But when getting dressed up have fun, wear something that is long and dangles down, you don't have any hair to get in the way of long earrings and you can show them off. So have fun, go out and buy what you like and what looks best with the shape of your face. That's the most imporant thing, the shape of your face.

i think it is more of the shape of your face and how you style your hair rather than how short or long it is. some people just dont look good with really long dangly earrings while others do.
i have long hair but i usually wear it up and i prefer to wear studs (diamonds or pearls).

Why do not you dye it a diverse coloration that kinder blends in so that you'll damage out with it in college? In my personal opinion hair would not count number number on boys yet i do usually like a guy with surfer variety hair so only below the ears and above the shoulder. Blonde is a winner too! ; )

Large Hoops. They help to enlongate the face and offsets the short hair. Cascading types for formal wear.

if you have a long face - studs or large pearls look very classy and elegant, yet casual. if you have a more square or round face - small hoops or not-too-long chandalier earrings look great. be sure to match the colors! this is why pearl earrings are easy - they match everything!

gold hoop earrings, ruby studs (my birthstone), look at the type of earrings Halle Berry wears b/c she has short hair now

If you have a short neck, then stick w/ small stud earrings & hoops.
If you have a long neck, then go for larger hoops and long, dangling earrings.

I think it depends on the shape of the face.
I personally think short sparkly ones look best on any face with short hair. If you like you can also try very large dangly ones and see how they look and if you can carry it with your outfit.
