Dancing is a GREAT way to loose weight. No worries...take a beginner ballet class, exercise, and watch what you eat and watch the pounds fall off. Don't ever give up on your dreams, there is a way around everything and there is a first time for everything. For more great info on how to loose weight check out www.womenshelp.net. If your goal is to join the ballet company? No, that probably won't work ...
If your goal is to get out and have fun? I don't see why you can't join a dance class for fun and exercise. Do the most you can ... and slowly you should become more limber and flexible ... and healthy.
I have a friend who was nearly 100 pounds overweight ... and she taught belly dancing. It's all in the attitude ...

Ballet is a great way to lose weight and if you are doing it for fun who cares anyway! I am a dance teacher and a fitness instructor so I know what I am talking about. Ballet will increase your fitness and flexibilty and will burn off the weight. Go For it hun sod anyone who says otherwise!

Take it anyway! Do your best! Don't let your weight get in the way of what you want to do. Maybe ballet would give you the motivation to loose some weight.

you know wat i think? GO FOR IT!! your weight has nuthin to do with it...you shouldn't let your weight discourage u from doing things that u wanna do...trust me i've dun that & im only 17 & i regret it...I over weight & i dance now & you kno what i can do it jus like skinny ho3z...lol...Allz u gotta do is put ya mind 2 it...If your out of shape i may b a little hard but as you do it, it will get better + anuthr source ta help you lose weight..but don't let ne1 or nethin ever make u think diff cuz bigger gurlz kan do nethin a skinny gurl kan...i wish u tha best of luck!!

You should take lessons regardless of your weight. Not only is it great exercise, ballet will also instill a sense of grace and poise and give you more confidence in your body. :-)
