Waterproof mascara is SO not the answer! It clumps really easily and eventually makes your lashes fall out because its so difficult to remove. Try Maybelline XXL or Christian Dior Show Mascara; those are two of the best.

It sounds to me like the mascara you are using might be thick. I suggest using Mary Kay Mascara. I have used it 3 years and love it. Keep in mind that you need to change out your mascara every 3 months (more often than that if you pump your mascara prior to applying), because of the bacteria build up. You can tell your mascara is bad if it has a funny smell or if your eyeshadow flakes some after applying. Prior to Mary Kay I never knew mascara could go bad...I used the same tube for years! Not anymore. Waterproof mascara might help a little...but keep in mind the waterproof mascara is the most damaging to your eyelashes. Putting Vaseline on them is going to add additional oils that may not be healthy. (Your eyelashes need to be taken care of, just like the hair on your head. So be careful with products you use on them.)

I have very long eyelashes and that has never happened to me. I don't wear waterproof mascara either. I like Mabeline the best.

before applying Ur mascara get an old tooth brush and sweep Vaseline onto your eyelashes ( not to much) . then brush your lashes with only one coat of mascara .
job of the Vaseline:
makes the eyelashes moist so they do not attach
protects eyelashes from mascara
