I crochet afghans for a local children's hospital, and usually I get my yarn from them directly, but they have a new voluteer coordinator, and she doesn't know what she's doing yet, and so my co-worker and I who do this are out of yarn. Anyone have any they want to get rid of?

Try a company called Big Lots or in some cases Odd Lots. Talk to the manager and tell the person it is for a charity. Our knitting blankets for the homeless group got about 100 skeins of acrylic yarn.

If you put the word out among friends and family, you will be amazed at how much you get. I did that, and I have way more than I know what to do with now. I have friends who are real estate agents, and they frequently find stockpiles of yarn at homes they list (then they give it to me). If you are a church go-er, try asking for that to be put into your church bulletin. You'll get some that way.

Good luck!
