What do I need to know before installing an (internal) CD burner on my PC?

I've never installed anything in a computer before but I feel ambitious and I'm good at figuring things out. Is there anything I should know before I start?

If you are keeping your old drive disk drive, in other words, if you will be running 2 disk drives, make sure to set one as the master and the other as slave (jumper settings).

You should know how to set the master/slave relationship if you have more then one drive already, ie. 2 drives. check out this site, it helps a lot
